I believe a lot of us use the dark background too. There is a lighter one of course, but I find light backgrounds on any forum to be annoying. Not sure why, but I do.
Are they slotted mags? If so, US Mags makes an old style slotted mag, in 8-lug, but in a 17" diameter. They are either 9 or 10 inches wide, can't remember. I've never seen a set in person yet, but they are on my "wish list".
There's still quite a few 16.5's available, but only a small handful of radials. I believe Interco still offers a 33x12.5x16.5 in their Vortrac model, which I've heard is a pretty decent tire.
As far as the 12.00x16.5's go, it seems to be a dead size for light truck use. There's a couple steer...
Yeah, apparently they went from calling it Gov Lock, to calling it G80 (which is misleading because other GM cars with a limited slip differential also got the G80 RPO) to calling it the M Locker.
The one G80 video only states that it won't engage at high speeds and the M Locker video simply...
Yep, looks like moisture got to it.
It's worth paying attention to where the diff vent is placed. On one of my trucks, rain water would run from the bed and onto the frame. The water would then run under the top flange of the frame (much like a roof without a drip edge) and run right into the...
Agreed. The fact that it only happens under load leads me to believe the same.
Also, when there's a bunch of rotational slop in a drive shaft, folks always tend to blame the ring and pinion being incredibly worn. But the ring and pinion interface does not directly engage any axle shaft...
I've run many tire sizes on my C20 Suburban. I've run 285/75/16 all the way around, on GM 16x6.5" wheels. I've run 33x12.5x16.5 on the rear, on 9.75" wide wheels. I've run 12.00x16.5 (very similar to 33x12.5x16.5's) all the way around, on 9.75" wide wheels. I've also run 35x12.5x16 all around...
I have the exact same one. I went several years without using it. When I went to use it again, it was dead of course. When I opened up the battery compartment, I found a bunch of corrosion and destroyed contacts. You probably should open it up before you worry about what batteries to use.
The problem with dye is that it won't really show you much more than what you already know. You have already witnessed the places coolant has been leaking.
The Harbor Freight coolant pressure test kit is pretty good for the money. With a pressure tester, you can simulate the higher pressure...
Looks pretty good to me. That angle is about what I would shoot for personally.
Also, swapping them side to side ain't lazy... it's simply doing things the right way :)
All this talk of cassette adapters is bringing back some memories I had forgotten about. It was probably 1999 when I last used a cassette adapter. I used it in GM radios with the auto reverse... for some reason I remember there was a very easy way to cancel the auto reverse feature. I also...
No ma'am. From what I recall seeing in the picture, his crossmember is installed correctly, along with the brace on the one side. Besides that, the 4x4 crossmembers are not positioned correctly for a 2wd trans mount.
I'll try to get some pictures rounded up so you can better see how the 2wd...
Yeah, I thought it was only to keep the gauge from swinging back and forth with fuel slosh.
But I know I've swapped around fuel gauges in multiple GM cars and trucks and they read correctly. Pickups, Burbs and K5's all interchange, regardless of tank size. I even had an '83 S10 fuel gauge in my...
Yeah, one of those ^^^ hooligans will need to look into it. Either us regular moderators don't have those kinds of tools to fix it, or we are just too dumb to figure it out
Lol, I must admit that I did like the interior treatment. It was just so ridiculous that I couldn't help but like it. There was a certain charm to it, I guess you could say
