What locker shall I go for?

I think a Detroit locker can cause as many problems in snow and ice as it solves. I would look at a TruTrac, but another option is putting chains on your back tires. Not sure what you're getting stuck more in, snow or mud. Unfortunately for snow it's tough to beat 4wd, I've never been glad I had...

What new tools have you got lately?

I have that exact tool. You can make one but as cheap as that is, IMO just buy it. It'll be one of those things that you'll lose cuz it's small, no case, and rarely gets used. I think I've bought at least 2 in my life.

What have you done to your square lately??

I have some power doors but they're up at work. My doors are completely shot, but I kept them because they had all the power window stuff. I'd be glad to take pics or measurements for you but I won't be back there until Tuesday. And while I'm posting I may as well vent a new frustration... I...

What have you done to your square lately??

The one I took out was an Accel, came with the distributor. I replaced it with an AC Delco.

What have you done to your square lately??

Years ago I had an 87 Cougar do a similar thing. First time I've had a HEI do this too.

What have you done to your square lately??

Can you guys hear that?... ... ... ... ... That's the sound of my truck running:rockit: It was the stupid ignition module.

What have you done to your square lately??

Thank you. The distributor is where I was heading next but figured I'd ask you guys. I've had a Ford ignition module do this to me before, where it was intermittent, but never a distributor. Your post helps, I think I'll be replacing the distributor next (fingers crossed)...

What have you done to your square lately??

That's what it feels like, but I'm 99% sure this isn't fuel related. I watched the fuel pressure when my wife started it, it held 6 psi the whole time. I can look in the float bowls on the carb and they're both right where they should be. Plus I tried squirting gas into the carb when it started...

What have you done to your square lately??

Still dealing with my stalling issue. Last Saturday I took my wife to Metro Cruise in my truck, it ran great with zero issues. Metro Cruise is a big car show in Grand Rapids, and the issue is you basically idle down the road at in stop and go for over an hour (maybe pertinent info). The truck...

What have you done to your square lately??

Had those issues with stalling, so yesterday I reached out to Pat from Pro Systems and he told me to bring the carb in. Popped the carb off, drove it out to their shop (thankfully not a crazy drive) and their guy tore the whole carb down, completely rebuilt it, and put it on their test engine...

Let's see those 4x4 Squares On Dirt!

No winch, I think you're just seeing the flag mount.

Let's see those 4x4 Squares On Dirt!

And here's a more current pic. My friend's son's Toyota, my Chevy, and my son's Chevy on the right. We're currently changing the frame on my son's Chevy due to a combination of Chevy's junk steel, the midwest, and him getting a little overzealous coming off the top of a hill in the dunes.

    Correcting uneven suspension

And finally some before and after pics of the axle. Sand blasted it, then painted with spray bombs of tractor paint. Need to hit the bottom again just below the diff cover. But it looks immensely better than it did before. You can see the new springs in the last pic too. After driving it quite a...

What have you done to your square lately??

Definitely wouldn't hurt. Seems good now, first time it's done this.

What have you done to your square lately??

Swore at it a lot. I have a Pro Systems carb that's been phenomenal for like 6 years. I don't have a choke at all but it's always been good after about 5 minutes. Fired it up this morning and it wouldn't idle, almost like a fuel injected car with a bad idle air control valve. Drove it about 20...

Let's see those 4x4 Squares On Dirt!

Playing in the dunes with my old Chevy. I took the drivetrain and suspension out of this and used it in the Chevy I have now. I loved the truck but the bottom of the cab was pretty rough and the frame was showing it's age. I still have it, but it's on stock suspension and still needs an engine.

    Correcting uneven suspension

Definitely makes sense. As far as the ORD front upper shackle hangers go... I honestly didn't notice any difference at all. Mine weren't necessarily bad, I just did it while I was already in there. Not saying I regret it, now they're greaseable and easier to service (hopefully I'll never need...

    4wd axle under a 2wd truck?

I'd still look into it. I'm not sure, but possibly someone here would know... assuming both diffs are the same (guessing a 10 bolt) can't you take the 5 stud axles out of your 2wd diff and put them in the 4wd diff??

    Correcting uneven suspension

Which hanger is it? The rivets aren't fun, but not impossible either, make sure to use good, grade 8 bolts that are exactly the same diameter as the hole left from the rivets (I don't recall the size). I did the ORD HD front upper shackle hangers on mine, also put 56" leaf springs on the rear...

    Correcting uneven suspension

Maybe later today I'll get a shot of that gorgeous, freshly painted front diff, but this was after about an 80 mile drive. You can watch it sitting there, not dripping gear oil out of the inside, passenger rear wheel lol

    Correcting uneven suspension

Truck is finally done, that was a journey. New front diff with a TrueTrac, new front springs, rear brake shoes and wheel seals. Drives fantastic, silky smooth.

    Correcting uneven suspension

Figured I'd update this. Finally got all my parts, and I have time to do it so I'm going to get this done today. If you have a FF14B rear diff and (inevitably) it starts dripping gear oil on the inside of the tire, don't use the speedi-sleeve and factory seal, use the 2 piece seal from (I...

It may not be your windshield antenna.

Try mirror mount adhesive? Or even JB Weld since you can't see it. As far as these vintage look radios go, they're all pretty cheap quality considering how much they cost. That said, I prefer Retrosound over the Custom Autosound ones, I've had both. They're almost identical but the Retrosound...

Death wobble, or bad wheel balance?

@Dano500 did your wobble get any better? You mentioned all those parts replaced but never mentioned replacing your bad ball joint. If you haven't I'm surprised, a loose or bad ball joint isn't a minor thing and can cause basically everything you've described as a problem here. I'd have done that...

    Cracked frame/shock mounts help

My frame was solid, no cracks, and I didn't do anything to my frame when I did the frame off, I just added those ORD braces. I take my truck to the dunes a lot, I've gotten air a couple times, and drive it hard through whoops quite a bit and no issues at all. I think what makes these crack is...
