Your overall question is lacking enough info to answer.
Just because it’s a 454 doesn’t mean it has the power to be snappin axles. And even if it does, are you using it in a manner to be snappin axles?
What transmission? If it’s an original 700r4, it will be the weak link.
If it’s a built 700 then disregard (maybe).
Since the 454 is not original (I don’t think they made factory big block 80s blazers) does it have a non OD or OD trans? If OD and you want to drive freeway speeds at low rpms then deeper gears makes sense. If non OD, 4.10s will be screamin on the highway even with 35s. 4:10/35” tires 1:1 = 3000rpms at 70mph +/-

This truck is new to me and I’m suspect of the guy who had it before me. Some things he did great somethings are cheap and stupid
I really don’t know what the motor’s got in to it. It’s got a bit of a cam, rpm manifold, old micky Thompson valve covers and a brand new 600 CFM Holley. Don’t know if someone had a plan or just threw whatever parts together.
stomping on the gas I’ll spin the back tires a little w/o power breaking. Whatever that means for the HP/torqe
I don’t think it’s going to be snapping axles unless I go out of my way to do it…yet. By the time I’m done I’ll be looking to get some serious power out of it.
I’m in FL and there are no rocks to crawl on, plenty of mud to mess up my pretty paint job and a ton of shopping centers to get groceries from.
It is a 700r4 with OD … .70 I think so is that 3000 x .7 = 2100?
I understand this may well be the weak link and i was planning on dealing with that when/if I get there
I’m looking to make this truck bad a** so I’m trying to be smart and if I will need a bigger rear eventually I would rather not put money into the 10 bolt.
It’s not my daily so highway speeds are not overly important but I would like to be able to rip tree stumps out of the ground and pop wheelies if I line up next to someone at a light
