Hello all! Just lucked onto a great project, a 91 last year suburban! It doesn’t run, but is very solid and all there! I plan on working on it with my 2 sons ( my oldest is 14) and making it their first car! I’ve always wanted a square body and now we have one! I’ve been a mechanic in my younger years and work on my own vehicles so I know it will be a good project for my boys and I. But I know I will be here picking peoples brains once we get into it! Long story short was it was going to be towed from a commercial parking lot because the tenant left it sitting there unregistered for 10 years! He was going to scrap ot rather than pay the fines and have it taken! My buddy new him and told me about it and I came out and grabbed it the next day! It’s super solid and I know will turn out great!

Oh by the way, gave him the tidy sum of $300 for it! and the only rust is surface on the roof.
I saw that too. Great find. Better shape than my 04 (other than running) body wise!

Welcome from NC. Great story and purpose. Keep sharing pics and good luck with the build on the truck and the relationships with your sons.

Nice! I'd be more worried about the paperwork side of things - if it had a large collection of outstanding fines, will you be even able to get a title for the truck and will you be responsible for clearing those fines?

I actually really lucked out. Went and talked to the police and they said as long as you get it out of there by the end of the weekend (last weekend) we’ll drop all of the fines and promise not to tow it. We just want it taken care of. So it really worked out!
