More Washer Pump Questions

Gents,
I need to find a cost effective fix for my washer pump.
Truck is an '83 K20 with the multi speed wiper switch on the dash.
The wipers work great, but my washer fluid pump doesn't pump.
I've seen replacement units that replace both the wiper motor and washer pump, but I need to fix this on the cheap.
I'm not concerned about originality, just functionality. Can I wire in a new pump between the fluid reservoir and the sprayers using the existing switch?
I've seen simple pumps like the one in the link below that look like they'd work?
Any ideas?

You should be able to- WHT 93 wire will brings 12 volts from the fuse box. PNK 94 goes back to the switch where it is grounded. Same wire setup on 85 & newer except the wires just goes to a separate pump (like the one in your link).

You can buy the newer reservoir and pump, ideally with check valve too, and install it where it goes on the newer trucks im pretty sure you also bump capacity a small bit.

That will probably be an option for another day, but right now I need a quick fix.

You'll want to confirm the source of the problem. Is the switch making? What happens if you put 12V directly on the washer pump?

Your problem is probably the multi pin relay that the switch connects to at the bottom of the steering column. Find the pink wire going to towards the fire wall. This is the ground wire. Tap it with a press on connector and run a second wire out of the in-line tap. Touch your new wire to any ground and your pump should start spraying if it’s any good. (Total cost $2.00).

Here is your replacement module. Also very easy to replace with almost no tools ($200.00)

Honestly that would be your quickest and cheapest fix. You can get resevoir/pump combos on Amazon for 15 bucks, then you just run power to that pump and pull the wire from your squirter motor to ground it (turn it on). Too easy.

Yep, just use the original pump connector at the wiper motor, to power a universal remote mount pump. I've done that many times, it's cheap fast and easy.
