Well, if the welds crack, hopefully the new mount won't. It almost twice as thick as the OE.

Yeah, I like the mounts, they are good and beefy. It's just the welding that looks a little questionable.

Been hearing a rattling from the front of the engine compartment. Didn't make any sense to me so I got Pop involved and we found the shaft on the water pump is wobbling all over the place. I had to loosen the belts to find it. I have never seen a water pump shaft wobble that much and not leak. But I cannot see a single drop of water/coolant at all.

I pulled the fan, the shroud and the pulley this evening and bought a new water pump from O'Reilly's. But changing it will have to wait, I am too tired tonight to R&R.

Of course I used the truck today or this would not have come up...

Maybe it had too many…wobble pops. I’ll show myself out.

Love your truck, it’s perfect.

Thanks but it really isn't anywhere close to perfect. Kind of like my roommate...it looks good from far but when you get close it looks far from good!

Jesus I hope Mrs. Redfish never finds that post...

Finished up on the garage reorganizing (for the moment) and checked a couple spark plugs, look pretty good after the new valve seals. Gonna go for a cruise this afternoon.

I’ll be dipped. The GM invoice showed up in the email inbox. Never considered my truck might be from Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Took the truck to town on Sunday for a shake down run. Gas tank filled and ran it home. Took care of a few more small details and threw it back on the road for an evening cruise down my road and I was hearing some roaring. Realizing I never touched the wheel bearings when I got the truck and it sat for 20 years before I got it I figured they needed attention. Rolled it in the shop this morning and sure enough they were pretty loose and the grease in them was pretty solid. In cleaning them up I found the outter passenger side bearing was on its way out. Luckily the local parts house had one in stock. So now she rides a lot quieter. When ahead and greased up all the steering components while I was there. Those are on the list for replacement soon. I still need to buy and install AC and new gauges but I have enough on an old phone through the OBD2 to drive it and enjoy the truck.

Got the new water pump installed this evening after work. But...it leaked. Badly. Because my dumb a$$ forgot to swap the Allen head plug from the old pump to the new pump. Ashamed to even admit how long it took me to figure that out.

Found that a strange sort of grinding noise that has bothered me since I bought this Truck was actually the front of that water pump. It made a growling/grinding noise and the new one does not. It is so smooth and quiet... I have been trying to find my rattling noise for a couple months now and I feel kind of stupid for not catching this sooner.

Absolutely. Actually, I love them all. Seriously. My primary purpose is simply to keep them on the road. I’m embarrassingly saddened every day that I see an old square rotting away and a guy only asking $1000 bucks. If I won the lottery, I’d clear my schedule, build a pole barn with a lift and have “Chad’s Squarebody Sales”. I’d even wear a cheesy polyester used car salesman jacket.

Lots of nice trucks on here, and I appreciate @JamesSam compliment. In person and reality, she’s pretty rough around the edges but she’s all mine.

You can also use magnets. I mounted mine with this weird suction cup phone holder thing. It’s like an octopus. Lowes has a display of them. You can connect anything with 1/4 20 threads.
