I build a custom air cleaner housing for my 79 c20 250 with a verajet carb since I was unable to find one anywhere. I wanted it to look like something that would have came on the truck but with my flare on it. If you guys are wonder why I did this is because the truck had a diy propane kit on it from the propane dealership my grand uncle worked at that my grandfather's eventually bought from my granduncle propane dealership. I decided to convert it back to gas just to avoid what I would have to do to get it permitted to run on propane. What do you guys think of what I came up with?

@squaredeal91 yeah I am, I'm just debating on the color, I've thought of clear coating it because I really like the metal look but I'm not sure yet. I really want to pinstrip it and also put lettering on it but I'm debating what put on it.

If you clearcoat it you can put striping or lettering on it. If you do the striping or lettering in lacquer, you should be able to clear lacquer on top of it too. Just be sure all layers are compatible....

That's some amazing work! How long did that take you?
Thanks @bucket I started designing what I was thinking of in January, I want to say I started making it together in April. I worked on it off and on from that point on. I could have finished it sooner but due to family matters I just couldn't put as much time into as I would have like too. I got pics of the build process and the first sketch designs I drew up if you would like to see them. I also have an idea for a cup holder that I would like to build since I don't like any of the cup holder I see on the market for a square body or in general for a bench seat vehicle.

Thanks @HotWheelsBurban on the additional info, I don't think I would have thought of compatibility of the clear coat and the paint so thanks for that info.

Yes, I would LOVE to see pictures of the process and the design sketches!

I like to think of myself as a pretty decent metalworker with just some basic tools, but seeing what you have done, I realize that I really don't know sh!t, lol. I would never have even thought to make an air cleaner.

@bucket The first pic is two drawing on top of each other when I was trying to figure out the design I wanted. From that point on is when I figured out which design I wanted to go with. Well I really didn't think I was good at metal work to be honest, when I was making it people that saw couldn't believe it, and I would just say, I pulled it out of my ass, lol! I am self taught, I didn't go to school for it or anything like it. I only thought of making on because I looked for like a year for one and could find an air cleaner housing anywhere. I even post a topic on here if anyone know who made one or if anyone know where I could get one from and no luck, I think i even said in that topic maybe I will make one so I did. This will be a multiple post since it say only 5 pics at a time.
