Up early by 5am, got the differential fluid changed. Cleaned up, threw the knee brace back on and went into the country. Shame that the Acme Diner was closed- I was hoping for a chocolate malt. After that drove back into town for some Ethanol-free. Did probably 60 miles today before the leg had enough from being in one spot too long.

Yea my 83 has a ton of stuff from the fire department and from me looks like a mess but serves it function I did a "clean up" with zip ties just so it's not hanging down but the 75 is clean underneath no extra stuff so I have room to make my own spaghetti mess lol

haha. Good to know I wont be the only one.
I dont know what most of these do - so I'm going to have to dig around for an electrical diagram for these things then isolate what came from the factory that way from what was later added or modified so I can get my spaghetti organized better. :D

Flushed system, swapped radiator, hoses, water pump, thermostat, wired in the e-fans and added a fuse box under the hood to hook up accessories. Need to mount the fuse box a bit better but works for now.

Got the Mechman 170amp alt installed, along with 2/0 ofc copper cable everywhere. Even the core support and firewall ground lol. New battery too. Very nice unit, made in USA, even comes with an extra serpentine pulley. Cable and lugs are also very nice.

Just ordered bulk cable and connectors and made my own cables. VERY nice 3m heat shrink as well, fantastic stuff.

The alt is rated for 170 amps at 1800 rpm and 90 amps at 800rpm. All you do for the alt is bolt it in and connect a single key on 12v source to their supplied weatherproof connector, and you're done. Other than cables.

Voltage has been fantastic. On the mid level factory alts I would have voltage drop with my extra fogs and sound system, mainly at stop lights and in gear low idle. But also with my light bars on slowing down for a turn under 1000rpm I would have voltage drop. NOW, this wasn't unacceptable until after I HAD to go to an electric fuel pump.

Then the problem was too much for my liking. So I had to finally throw the alt on, I had been waiting for my battery to die as well(I was rough on it)

Haven't had a single issue, no belt squeal no engine bog no problems. The belt looks "wore" out but their pulley wants to get contact on the ENTIRE v belt lol, which I think is where some high amps fail with v belts.

Everything is overkill, but it should last a very long time being "underworked" mostly anyways lol, I do use a good bit of the amperage sometimes lol

Don't mind my daily driver engine bay!

i found some matching seatbelts at the Nashville C10 Nationals in October. On the new set the covers were perfect, but the belts were stained and badly sun faded. Whereas my old belts are great but the plastic covers were disintegrating/stained. I got the covers installed yesterday. It was a stupid amount of work. The belts loop through the covers. So the spring loaded retractors had to be removed. The springs untensioned, belts removed from the spools, them the covers could come off and be switched out and then everything reassembled.

You have more patience than I. I attempted to repair one of those belts years ago. The spring uncoiled unexpectedly and it did not go well, lol.
