I have a 1983 K10 with full time front hubs. I want to convert to part time hubs. I have 350 with 700r4 mated to np208. My question is, can I just change the hubs or do I need to do anything with the transfer case? My feels are I should be ok to just change the hubs but I am unsure. Thanks for any info.

Are you certain they’re all time?

‘83 probably has automatic hubs, they lock themselves in when you pull the transfer case into four wheel drive.

If for some reason they are actually full time hubs you shouldn’t have any problem switching them out to an automatic or manual hub

Correct. Full time hubs weren't used after the '79 model year.

At any rate, you can replace full time drive slugs with manual locking hubs and you can also replace the auto hubs for manual.

Thanks. Ya they are probably the automatic hubs then. I’m not that familiar with them. Just wanted to make sure what I was getting into. Thanks again
