Can someone explain what my Door Weight Tag is actually telling me ? Maybe I am just stupid, but they show two numbers for each section. Here is what I have:

GVWR 5200 / 2359
GAWR Frt 2950 / 1339
GAWR Rr 3100 / 1407

I assume the GVWR of 5200 is the max weight, but what is the 2359 ? I don think that would be the curb weight.

I can't add up the GAWR's and get 5200... None of the numbers between Frt and Rr add up to anything else.

I'm going to have to get it on a scale to get the actual curb weight, and I guess I would assume the GVWR at 5200 would be my maximum weight. Truck is an '83 GMC C1500 Regular Cab Long Bed. Again, I don't understand these second numbers ( / xxxx) !

Thanks !

Oh Jeez.. two minutes after I posted, I used a KG to Lbs calculator and found that the second number is Kilograms ! Duh !

There is no indicator on the tag that says anything about Kg's, but 1339Kg = 2950 lbs. So, I got it figured out.
Thanks anyhow. I'm pretty new to the group with a truck I picked up in August. I've had 67-72's over the years but this is my first SB.

5200? Haha that’s crazy! I’ll never understand the excessively low gvwr on many trucks.
So that truck, based on my 77c10 small block stock is 4500lbs wet weight with less than 10 gal fuel between the 2 tanks.
700lbs cargo capacity. Thats like 200lbs cargo capacity with a cab full of people. Or overweight with 2 passengers and full fuel tanks. Just doesn’t make sense.
I thought even the light duty half tons were 6kgvw.
