If you have/can source new nuts and just need to get them off, there is always the pneumatic universal wrench.

I approve of this post. Will also come in handy for breaking the rust bond between the hub assembly and spindle. I wish I had thought of this actually haha. Good play sir.

I had thrown that in there in jest, but I would totally do it. I should say I have done it. Most recent, tearing down a couple 14b semi floats to evaluate, had a socket for the pinion nuts, but did not have a 3/4 drive ratchet or breaker bar, or adapter from 3/4 to 1/2. So air hammer and chisel, grab a flat and they broke loose and spun off pretty easy that way.

I’ve not done it myself, but if you work on many full floating rears, from 3/4 ton pickups to class 8 rigs, you will certainly come across spindle nuts/lock nuts that have been installed or removed that way.

Get you one of these. I put a couple of strong rubber bands around it where it grips the spring so it wouldn't come off.

Picked up this tool and ordered some of the umbrella style valve seals this week. Hoping to do this job with my son this winter. Need to pick up a service manual for the blazer so that I know all the torque specs and whatnots
