2024 Space City Shootout model car show and contest

Y'all wanted to hear about our local model car club, and what we build and the others who come to our show. It was yesterday at the Bay Area Community Center in Pasadena, Texas, down the street from NASA/JSC. We had over 200 models entered by about 35 entrants.

Yup, only thing I could see it needed was for the trailer top to come off so you could see the Coors.... otherwise was perfect.

I also assume someone makes decals for the western theme on the trailer sides.

If not :

The '64 Plymouth Petty car was the theme award winner for "1964". The big Ferrari engine, I think it won Best in Show, but not sure. It was quite impressive. You can get so much detail in the larger scale models....
I liked the red '62 Pontiac and the '37 Ford truck with the radial aircraft engine. That engine was 3D printed but there's still a lot of scratch building in the model. 3D printing is really revolutionary for model building; there's so many things that can be replicated, with very nice detailing. And you can make things that don't exist in regular model kits, like for instance, a long bed for a square body truck.
We usually decide on the theme for next year's show at our monthly meeting before the show. That meeting got cancelled because the venue had no power after the hurricane. So we will decide on the theme at the August meeting (weather permitting!).

This is a friend's. He is really into various models and electronics. It makes awesome audio of engine.

Right there, my first car! '64 Fury, red over white with a red gut. 318 with 3 on the tree. Wish I still had it. Prize winner, wow!
