My AC blower doesn't really blow that hard in my 1977. Could this be a ground issue, bad switch, it just a tired old motor? Factory AC truck. Thanks.

Blower motor running,multimeter set on volts place one probe on the blower motor,ground the other are you showing significant voltage like more than .25 volt if so it's a bad ground,do the same on the power side but this time place one probe on the blower motor hot lead one on battery positive lead,again significant voltage showing on the meter means voltage loss prior to the motor. That's called a volt drop test. If it passes volt drop test,it is the blower motor itself or it's normal for a 40 year old truck.

What @Ricko1966 said. Plus, remove the motor and you are likely to find a lot of debris inside. Vacuum that out.

Just making sure I completely understand, so to test for the ground I turn the blower motor on and put the red lead on my multimeter on the blower motor hot wire, and the black lead on something like the frame or negative battery terminal?

And to test the voltage drop, you said to put one probe on the blower motor hot lead (red?) and the other on the battery positive (black?)... not the battery negative? Just making sure, seems backward lol. Don't want to pop a fuse, I don't have any of these old glass ones on hand. Thanks!

Nope, red lead to blower motor case,black lead to ground, now if your meter shows 2 volts then your ground is only supplying 10 volts, it is dropping 2 volts. Do the same on the hot side. Red to motor positive,black to battery positive if your meter reads 3 volts than your positive hot wire is only supplying 9 volts, its dropping 3 volts. Those are not exact numbers but you get the point. If your meter is reading .2 volts then either you expect more of the motor than 40 year old blower motors actually made,or it is worn out. Don't forget to check for trash in the ducts and blower motor housing. All testing is done with blower motor running.

OK, thanks. Just wanted to be sure. It's been over 20 years since dad sold his '83, but I seem to remember it blowing harder than this one. On high, I can barely feel any air at all.

Well, everything tested fine on the blower. I never even thought to check how hard it was blowing on the passenger side... it's coming out nice and hard over there, but the driver side is barely anything. Upon closer inspection, it seems that there's a big round duct that just dumps out behind the vent on the driver side and isn't connected to the vent at all, it just blows out and only a little bit of the air actually gots through the vent, the rest just blows out behind the dash. Is there a connector that's supposed to be there? If so, are they available anywhere? Not sure what to search for, I'm seeing new vent assemblies but it's not clear if they have this piece on them. I need new vents anyway, mine are all loose and broken.
