I’ve had my burb for around a year. Been wanting it for a while. Hard to find nice older rides on an island in Alaska. To the point! My truck has decided to leak at #4 cylinder with coolant. While I’m tearing it down it dawned on me the engine is old corporate blue. Did they paint blocks blue in 88? Also the heads are stamped 10110810. Tried to see if they match the year. All the websites kind of match the year of truck. The odometer reads 91k which makes sense being from Alaska with minimal driving distance. Thanks for the help.

I have an ‘88 K5 with the factory 350 TBI engine (even the original build) with 274k miles. I know this because my uncle bought it brand new and was the only owner until selling it to me last year and I’ve been around it for 36 years now. The engine is black.

I’m not an expert on exact years / colors. I’m sure someone in the know will chime in, but mine is black.

73-76 was orange, 77-83(or 84) was corporate blue, after that black.
