86 K20 Shut Off off on Interstate

86 K20 - everything shut off while driving on interstate. Noticed Wire from positive terminal to top of alternator was hot (starting to burn up). There is a quick disconnect on the positive terminal too. I disconnected that wire (from batt to top of alternator) and it was throwing sparks the hole time. The battery came with truck… it was newish and still strong so I haven’t touch it yet. Is the battery bad? Bad ground? Bad alternator?

Is the size (gauge) of the wire printed or branded on it? Is the wire flexible? Peel off the yellow tape and look for green crud, if so replace the wire with the proper gauge.
