I assume it does, but when I force pad down to screw it in, there is a big hump at passenger defroster vent area.

Any advice is appreciated.

What's under there? Seems like something must be pushing it up. Dash pad normally tucks under the black rubber around the windshield.

Not trying to be funny or anything else, could you have left a small wrench or tool or even a rag on the dash before you placed the dash pad in ?
The pad is held in by the six dash clips that connect to the back (Windshield side) of the pad and then held in by the four screws and the side screw.

I would remove it and verify what the issue is and reinstall ...

I also see we are neighbors the way the birds fly...

Is that a replacement dash pad? I picked up a grey one from somewhere that fit terrible like that with humps all over the place.

Sorry fellas, I was installing audio system. Nothing under it, but hump from metal. I didn’t put dash clips in, so maybe that’s it? If I don’t push dash under weatherstripping, it is way too far out to bolt down in front.

I had to trim mine to get it to fit. I hated having to cut a 400 dollar dash pad btw, but had too.

Is that a new, aftermarket dash? If so, who's is it out of curiosity? I would say the majority of aftermarket dash pads don't fit correctly, at least not out of the box. You may need to shave some of the foam underneath/trim in various spots to get it to lay down.

But to answer your question, no, it does not push under the windshield gasket.

OE dashes can warp and aftermarket ones tend to need a lot of adjusting/trimming to fit correctly. It’s also easy to drop or misalign retainer clips during installation, so double check that too.
