Probably not much pulling with it, mainly a cruiser. Actually at a farm auction, hoping not too many people realise what it is. Definitely better than the cost of a NV4500 -

I have a chance to pick up a complete NP833 with transfer case and shifter from a diesel squarebody. Really want a NP4500, but this would be better than the granny 4 speed thats currently in my 78. I don't see a lot of information about them, what's it worth, and is it worth messing with? -

Well Dave, sorry, but I’m not going to be able to help you. The spare rod I have is too short, not to mention that my CUCV is also missing one! Hopefully I haven’t done any damage yet, since I use mine as a bulldozer, oops, I mean snowplow. Here’s a pic of the rod I have, it’s about 3” short...- SDJunkMan
