Black is the most challenging color to paint, it shows everything. Color sanding doesn’t always make it better, plus you’re now one less layer closer to primer. In my case, I am hoping the chrome trims will distract one a little bit from the flawed paint. Bodywork and paint is a challenge when... -

Stupid as this reads, sprayed two coats under moonlight and then got up at dawn to tack cloth and spray last coat….definitely not gonna win truck show competition….but perfect enough for me. -

Sprayed primer but abandoned white paint since the bugs woke up. -

This is what I have been doing with my K20; overall, I am satisfied with the results but I do question the amount of effort to get here. These trucks have a lot of surface area which takes an enormous amount of time to prepare properly especially if it had many previous coatings from the past 40...- mxer147

I have same issue, I m going to try plastikote or wrap the box pivots with duct tape until the excess play is gone. Then grease it so it won’t wear out quickly.- mxer147

I’d go ride that dirt bike first and then buff out the green paint then wax. Nice rides and good to be back home where it belongs.- mxer147

No, it’s an isocyanate activator mixed 8:1 which hardens the oil based enamel paint. -

Rust oleum hood underside and some associated parts. Used some enamel hardener this time. -

Sanded the glazing putty and taped the stripes on both sides. Gonna shoot primer and then white paint. Wide stripe will be metallic blue and less wide stripe orange, opposites on the color wheel. And, broncos colors. Bugs are out, almost 80 today, won’t shoot if they’re around. -

They look much higher quality than the $35 I spent for some $2 cheap plastic covers which I plan to reshape, reinforce and paint. What have you done to your square lately??
Washed the hood to add some glazing putty to fill all the imperfections. Next, final sand, primer, tape stripes and shoot probably next week or later. Bug’s flying in the evening so I will have to wait until it’s warm enough in the morning to paint outside before the bugs wake up.
