Lost Two Gen 3 LS Engines in my 1986 C10 2WD
While it is possible it's a coincidence, the number of 160k LS engines running just fine and then 2 dropping compression and failing in short order makes me think its a related issue vs bad luck of the draw. If you go with the Medium Duty like the UHaul's, its a 10qt sump and ALOT more forgiving of oil level. It might be a bit more intimidating for an employee-mobile, but that might be a good thing? Sounds like you have a plan there, but you could also consider using the Suburban tank as the main, and transfer from each saddle tank into the Burban tank. Usual rule is about 10% for modern ballast, 20% for magnetic of the original bulb rating. Trying to test them with a standard meter is tough, but overall that's a reasonable number.
