1978 Suburban just came in to a local yard

Unfortunately in Texas, once the yard gets it on the picking lot, it's theirs. However, this company does sell used cars... maybe you could get ahold of them and see if they will sell it to you and prove me wrong.... U Pull And Pay/Houston/Texas/used cars....

    Unlock barn doors from inside

Something along similar lines: the OBS Burbs have a rocker switch by the right side door post, just inside on the D pillar, that locks/unlocks the rest of the doors with the power locks. I wanted this feature on our square body Burbs....

Yup I don't like that they do that. LKQ gives you several angles. But these guys are cheaper on most stuff and I'm in the VIP club so I get in for $2 instead of $3: it's $5 now at LKQ.

1978 Suburban just came in to a local yard

Hey all, I check the local wrecking yard listings frequently, in the Houston, Texas area. This popped up today, yard put it out sometime yesterday. Looks like it's got plenty of good stuff left on it, to save other trucks. This is the U Pull And Pay, in SE Houston, close to Hobby Airport. I will...

New member with a new C10 build

The later style came out in '77.... I just sold the accessories brochure/catalog for that year but I took pics of it for posterity. Our '81 had the GMC version on it....The other picture shows the bumper guards.

Is the polished/chrome tailgate cap stock, on my 87.

Those factory plastic gate top rails are on the NBS and newer, especially on the 2007- up trucks. Those gates are thicker than the square body or OBS gates.

Searching for My Dad's 1979 Chevy Suburban

These trucks are like that sometimes, especially if you're fixing one that's been neglected. Most of us have been there at some point in time.

    Center/carrier bearing orientation - 76 C20 suburban

That's the part I was thinking of. I looked at my OBS Crew Cab and it has that part too. Looks a little bit different but considering it's a newer generation and twenty years newer... this is to be expected. Still not sure about those other covers/washers. I don't recall having those on our...

What would you pay for this truck?

Thinking about what I wrote: I'm thinking that the '78 Sierra shop truck had the white version of this cap on it when we got it. We bought it in May or early June of '78, and after it was wrecked at less than a year old, it got the GM factory wagon wheels, painted Colonial Yellow like the rest...

    Center/carrier bearing orientation - 76 C20 suburban

WOW, that doesn't look familiar. I haven't had to service this on my Crew Cab so not sure if it is different style on the OBS trucks.

What would you pay for this truck?

I didn't know they ran the chrome early style dog dish hubcaps through '77. The dealership took Dad's 75 Sierra Classic to a shop off-site to add the extra tank, and they did a hack job on it. From what I've read and heard, that's unfortunately commonplace.

Agreed on the longer WB making it ride better. One of many reasons we preferred longbed trucks. I had a buddy in high school that took me out wheeling in his '74 Blazer K5. Fun,and we were just going around the bayous and where subdivisions were going in near school, but the short WB made it not...

Searching for My Dad's 1979 Chevy Suburban

Yes I remember those.... lots of vacuum lines and cables. Now they do it all electronically.... My OBS trucks have a box on the firewall with a plug and a cable to go to the throttle body. New trucks, it's probably all in the computers....
