Not sure where you are with this but if you fill the converter with a quart or two of fluid, install it so it's fully engaged on both... -

Not possible for the TV cable to open the throttle. Even if you took the pan off,grabbed the TV cable with vice grips and pulled on it...

BI'd go back to a stock water pump,a thermostatic mechanical fan,a stock radiator and shroud.

Had similar situation. 79 GMC c1500, crate 350 (installed 2004) w/TH350, stock 3.73 rear ratio. Man, tac'ing 3,000-3,200 doing 55-60...
