An Edelbrock 1400 series is what my truck has too and when trying sudden acceleration, it too bogs a little, but I turned it into the body shop right after buying it and hadn't much time to tinker with it other than readjusting the mixture screws using a vac gauge which improved it quite a bit. Some people swear by Edelbrocks as a plug n play carb, but my opinion is that they are "finicky" and once I get it back, I may have to consider Holley if fine tuning doesn't pan out.

Once I get my truck back, calibration will be at the top of the list of things to tinker with.

Remember, it takes fuel AND ignition to make an engine burn correctly...a 1978 vehicle ( I own one) has had the wiring from battery/ alternator to distributor go " south" about 20 years ago. Both my 78 Blazer and 95 S 10 have feed relays added from the charging system to the distributor module.

Before going down another " fuel rabbbit hole", verify 14 volts at the distributor. Weak spark = rich fuel due to misfire.

There were 1980'S Honda Goldwing 1200s that literally had destroyed engines due to misfire from bad wiring. Burnt to a crisp.

Its not possible to set fuel mixtures on weak ignition.
