It must be loud, I see the guy in he background covering his ears. Although, I don't see mud. Looks pretty dry there.

Yeah the pro class has to have the track a certain consistency, more dry to keep traction while at the same time damp enough to keep the dust down. They set it up in a bottom along a creek, which is naturally more sandy and lets more water drain away, so the track had to be re-watered and prepped between each class. I wish they would have dumped the rest of the water truck in the pit once they got to the street class, since we werent racing for points.

Just about every weekend in different parts of the state and these guys like to hit em all! I swear it's like a small scale NASCAR season. You can see their trailers on the highway just about every weekend bound for the next event. I think they race most of the year but dont think they run in the coldest part of winter.

Awesome, there is going to be one the next 2 weekends. They are trying to have one on "Magic Island" but city council is trying to stop it, afraid it will "damage the park". As if it being underwater every time the river gets up aint damage enough. :-/ After that they will be up Ripley but it isnt free admission like this one was. I'm hoping this guy has another one this coming spring, I should have my 1-ton axles under the truck and be ready to grab taller gears!

Sure 'nuff! Maybe 20-30 miles if that far depending on what part of Hurricane (locally pronounced "Hurr-cun") and what part of Charleston.

It looks like the last race of the WVMRA season will be this weekend at Magic Island in Charleston. It is going to be another 12-24" "speed pit" like the race I went to. :-(

By the way, here's the Hot Street and Super Street classes. Better late than never...
