I have a 1982 k10 with a as far as I know bone stock 350 I put a new edelbrock 1406 carb on it when it had open headers and it ran great. We drove it to the muffler shop got some flowmaster series 40 on there and it’s running very rich. I’m 99% sure the new mufflers made it rich but my question is where do I start for leaning it out. This is my first time messing with any carburetor so I’m not sure where to begin. Thanks

fuel pressure

also muffler is not the very likely cause of richness

also muffler is not the very likely cause of The headers increased the airflow. This should have leaned out the engine, not made it richer?

I mean, I wont argue your logic, BUt Im saying that a more likely variable in his pig rich problem to me would be the known issue that edelbrocks run into, over pressure from stock-like fuel pumps.

Also I interpret this as having stock manifolds based on his bone stock statement vs stock manifolds with an exhaust behind it. It could use clarification, for sure, but how long was he really running it with "open headers" and what is his timing, what is the exhaust diameter, etc

You say it's the first time you messed with a carb..did you let it get up to temp before you judged it was running good the first time?
