It sounds like maybe the sender wire circuit is shorted to ground, at some point between the cluster and the tank switch.

Sanded the glazing putty and taped the stripes on both sides. Gonna shoot primer and then white paint. Wide stripe will be metallic blue...

Thanks. The other i encountered was that 3 out of 4 tows have been in 20-40 mph winds. I know that has a lot to do with it as well.
