I have an 86 c10 sitting at stock height (no lift or lowering kits) and I have goodyear wranglers on the stock 15x7 inch rally wheels. I want to buy some new tires with a more aggressive tread pattern and are taller and wider. It looks like theres room to go bigger, but I don't want to modify the suspension. What are the biggest tires I can fit on a 16x8" rim that will still fit without lifting the truck?

You can comfortable fit up to about a 32" diameter tire with the stock suspension. I've seen a 33" tire stuffed in there before, but it was looking a bit cramped.

I've got 31x10.50s on my 15x8 Rallies, but next time I wouldn't hesitate to go to the 32's...

I used to run a set of 32x11.5's on a 15x8 rim, they never rubbed at all even if driving over large curbs with the wheels turned. It was a '79 though with an inline 6, so the springs might have been a little taller. I think it might have been a little higher than my '84 with a 305 (hard to say really, one truck was owned about 10 years before the other).
