Recently I posted about troubleshooting my power door locks not working and I believe I might have traced it all back to the power door locks relay. Now I cant seem to find a new one anywhere. Anybody ever bought one before or know where I can get one. the part number I believe Is on there and clear #370869.. thanks

They're expensive when bought new from what I could find... I think LMC carries them, but I have a couple laying around I've pulled from junkyard trucks.

I'd test the one you have before replacing it.

Whats the best way to test it? what should it read with a multimeter? Being a relay im not to sure wich prong to test and what to look for.

I don't know off the top of my head, but I have one without the case on it around here somewhere. If I can find a schematic somewhere, I could probably tell you from that.

It's been a bit busy around here though, so it might take me a few days...

I found what I needed sooner than I thought... Here are my initial thoughts on it. If I knew where my one relay is without it's case I'd be able to tell you for certain.

From what it looks like in this image:

1. Between terminal 194 and the case there should be continuity
2. Between terminal 195 and the case there should also be continuity

3. Terminals 294 and 60 should not have continuity unless there is power applied to 195

4. Terminals 295 and 60 should not have continuity unless there is power applied to 194

For 3 and 4 you could test this out of the truck by hooking a battery to the terminals and the case. Positive side to the terminal and negative to the case.

I'll let you know if I figure out anything else.

Thanks for all the help. I pulled to relay apart and one of the contacts was fused together by what looked like metal shavings not really sure what it was. But I filed it down and separated it. now the door locks work like a charm! Just have to replace the window motor

Thanks for the write up and diagnostics. Putting my interior back and the relay just clicks, but no power to the locks. I'll give this a try.

yup.....those relays run ~$80 on ebay and up. And thats with heavy research to figure out that one from a different chevy, of that era, will work, but is mounted differently. Make what you can find work.

I recently bought a new one (that I'll have to make work) new and it came from India.

Power door lock actuators work by switching polarity. One way causes the actuator to lock, reverse the polarity will unlock it. To use a standard 5 pin relay will require 2

I used a relay from a Buick century on my Olds. It’s much cheaper, especially if you could find one in a salvage yard. The relay is probably used in lots of GM cars of that vintage. The wiring is the same, except the modern relay has a ground wire, the original relay grounded thru the metal mounting tab.

the relay is 30 bucks from AutoZone, but you would need the matching plug to wire it in.
