Using a flat pick, narrow flat pick, or a barrel pick, (great for weather pack terminals), will remove move wires from a Packard connector without damage when used properly.
Pushing the terminals in before inserting tool allows the lock pin to be released easier before pulling the terminal out of the connector.

I have found that ford copy cat connectors dont cooperate like delphi terminals/connectors etc. If de pinned a 3 wire(3/4 used rather) Tps connector body and my god it was like chewing tin foil

Sometimes learning to "de-pin" connectors can be easier than replacing the whole thing. There is a way to release the individual pins in the connector so you can replace one (or more) of the cut/spliced wires and the pin, without replacing the whole connector. Wiring depot . com should have the pins and wire to restore what you have.

If you are going to restore the wiring on your truck and you are shooting for dependability, I can not stress how important it is to have the right tool. If you have the tool on the left, throw the POS away. It will only create more electrical issues for you. To properly crimp connectors on, to make a good solid connection and not be lose or fall off, you need the tool with the pin to properly install the connectors. The tool on the left just squashes the connector and is not secure, the tool on the right has the pin (where the pen is pointed) that will crimp the connector on (if proper size connectors for wire are used) so you can NOT pull them off.
As a wiring an audio installer for over 25 years, this advice is great!!!!
I just bought a 70 C-10 and had to do this exact thing as the truck has a Studebaker dash and a tilt column from some other chevy installed with a horn button for a starter because the wiring was hacked up so bad!

Mike this the tool I need?

That is a nice one with 4 crimp sizes and designed specifically for crimping. The one I have is a combination tool, it cuts, and has two different types of crimp, but not multiple sizes of crimp. The style I have works, the one in your post is the deluxe version. I think I like the one you found, might have to get me one also.

After thinking about that crimper I realized it probably won't work for butt splices and the basic auto parts store crimp on connectors. It looks like it is just for the packard style connectors. Still a very useful tool but you will probably still need one like the one I have also for butt connectors and the sleeve type connectors.
