Thanks for posting that picture. I was looking at them or Retro Sound. If there is no option to dim that display then I will find something else.

@totallyhucked Not sure which model radio you have but see the instructions, page 11, for Custom Autosound radio. It shows there are 7 brightness levels. Instructions
Admittedly, mine was an older model. Idk how old, it was in the truck when I bought it but I had the book and there was no adjustment for this one. It was the Concours Series USA-230 (I'm actually looking at the book now lol, my buddy that bought it from me forgot to grab the book). Our shop truck has the same one in it, no option for brightness adjustment

Well, I could use some advice for my 90 Crew...I just want it clear sounding and simple.

My thoughts:
Retro 1.5 din in dash. No cutting needed since it's a 90
6x9's in rear corners.
5" or 4x6 in each door(4 total)
3.5 in front corners
1-2 of those self powered retro sound subs under rear seats

Is that too many speakers?
Do I need an amp, what kind?
What about a center speaker?

I've tried crutch fields catalog but it only recommended 4 speakers total and local stereo shops want me to spend $10k and install a bunch of subs
I'd start with 4 at the corners and go from there. With it being a crew, just adjust the front/rear balance to you being in the drivers seat.

Most head units have 4 amplified outputs designed to have 1x8 ohm or 1x4ohm load if you wire two speakers to the same channel it can be the wrong load and burn up the output. Example say you are supposed to have a channel with 1x4ohm load if you wired two 4ohm speakers in series you'd have an 8 ohm load which is wrong. If you wire two 4ohm speakers in parallel you'd have a 2 ohm load, again wrong. If you wired 2x 8ohm speakers in series it would a 16ohm load. But if you wired two 8ohm speakers in parallel it would be an 4ohm load which would be acceptable. To answer your question,ya it's doable, kind of a wiring challenge, center speaker for all practical purposes would be a no,possible but a big hassle. Your sub would have to be amplified. Your other speakers could be run off the head unit

Agreed. To enhance the sound quality you can run a complete component set in the front left and right.

Retro-sounds, couldn’t be happier. Plug and play, no holes, simple controls looks OE. Added a JBL under seat sub-woofer to complement the speakers. Crutchfield adapter, no cutting or splicing. Sub-woofer plugs right into the head unit and powered up from the cigarette lighter. Bluetooth makes a huge difference in driving experience. No thump thump, just great sound!

I love JBL. Of course I'm biased 'cuz my mom was a sales rep at the Bamberg Germany PX in 1982 and won sales rep of the year so they gave her a set of JBL L112's (which I have). I've cranked them bad boys up with underrated/average receivers over the years.....no complaints from 13 years old to today. So I stick with them.

Old school is always an option.
