What was the original color?

I have a 1976 custom deluxe K20. It is currently cream color but when I look around the truck I see some orange coming through. How do I find out what the original color was?

Check for the tag in the glove box. Lots of info there.

Tangier Orange, code 88 was available that year.

Under the carpet/insulation, behind the seat, are locations that may not have gotten re-painted.
If all else fails, the framing for the dash or overspray inside the dash. Was the truck gutted entirely and repainted inside the cab everywhere? (if you can tell).

Bottom of the bed, behind/under the front valance or cowling are other good areas to look for original paint.

Does it look like it might have been this color. 1974, they call it red but it looks Orange to everyone.

Tangier Orange it is, we are prepping for a new paint job and tangier orange is coming through. We are going to paint it Grenadier Red which is a 1960 C10 color.
