What is involved to switch from auto to manual

AUTO TO MANUAL
I'm deciding the direction I was to take my 86 and just wondered how difficult/possible and what all would be involved to switch . Going kind of the shop truck, slightly above rat rod kind of thing. I already need new glass and interior panels. Honestly I need a new wiring harness for the whole truck

It's worth doing. Did you want mechanical or hydraulic clutch?

All depends on what what setup you have now and what you're going to. Are you running a small block or LS or something else? Wanting an old school 4-speed or a more modern 5/6 speed? There are a few generic things you'll have to do regardless:

-remove shifter from column/swap out for a floor shift column
-remove linkage from lower column to trans
-cut a hole in the floor for the shifter
-figure out what flywheel/clutch you'll need
-pedals and either linkage or hydraulic systems
-driveshaft
-possibly exhaust work depending on your current setup and if it'll clear or not

Get a $2.98 'FOR SALE' sign. Sell it and go buy what you want. In the long run, it's cheaper and easier.
