Idk if these original S10s are starting to become collectable or not.

I've been looking for one for my brother in law, to fix and such for him to drive. There isn't a single one that's cheaper than like, 2000$ unless it's beat tf up or has no title

Definitely more miles than the one grit dog is looking at, but the body is very straight.

Even the old stuff is more $$ now with the car shortage, IMO.
This one the guy is asking $4500, which objectively is at the low end of anything 4x4 and in decent shape and low miles around here. I’m more in the $2500-3k range and only because it’s clean.
But to think that something from the early/mid 80s which is arguably just above the worst time in history for cars power and reliability would fetch that much out here is hard to comprehend.
but that truck would be a great rig as long as the early version 2.8 held up or swapped with any number of better engine options.
If it was a 4.3 truck I’d be posting a “look what I drug home” post!

That one even has the rear slider windows. I can't remember if they were factory or aftermarket, I just remember that interior air flow was awesome with them.

At work we called the 2.8 the engine from hell. You are better off without that one.
Especially the early ones...but curiously enough my MIL had a 2.8 S10 Blazer back in the day. It was really reliable, but it was a later model as it had TBI, so had to be at least a '87?
My interest was piqued as it would have literally been a mini me to the K20. And being a carbed engine, not difficult to swap to a 3.1 or 4.3 or even small block!

My first car (87' celebrity wagon) had the 2.8 v6. Ran like a beast the whole time i had it without issue. Idk why people $#!t on it.....

I had an 86 S10 Blazer with the 2.8 and a 5 speed. Rattled like heck when I bought it, didn't pay much and didn't trust it except for around town. We kept taking it on farther drives and ended up as a daily for a while. Put 15 or 20 thousand miles on it before we traded it for an 88 4.3 700r4 S10 Blazer just like the one @bucket pictured. That was a great ride. Ran it up to almost 190,000 before we traded it on a 1998 S10 Blazer. The 88 was the fastest one of all, really ran!!! @Grit dog you interested in a 2wd or 4wd S10/S15? There are a couple here in town that have been sitting for a while, 1 a Maroon S15 and the other 2 tone Brown and Tan S10. They are both 2 wd, I think? Want me to look closer, let me know. I'm not too far away from you?

Ya had great luck with a 91 S15 Jimmy. 4.3 as well.
Appreciate the offer, but like I may have mentioned as cool as it sounds, I don’t need another old car to work on.
I may have made an exception for that one as it was so clean and low miles but the kid will literally be putting 3-400mi a week on something within about a month of getting his license.
I really need to be looking for a fuel sipper little car. The only thing with 4 wheels and less than 300hp in the stable currently is a 48 year old Jeep!

Because the earlier "gen 1" engines with a carb weren't the greatest at all. Slow and had some quality control issues. The high output and fuel injected versions were much better, but those were only in cars. The "gen 2" style FI engines were great, and that's what you had. The gen 1 style carried on as a 2.8 and 3.1 with TBI, they were much more reliable than the earlier ones, but they were still kind of gutless. The early, low output carbed engines tarnished the reputation of them all.

VIN on title doesn’t match truck. Previous owner moved V6 VIN plate to dash. Tag in B pillar and partial VIN on frame match CUCV

Rubber weatherstripping is shot
Needs dash pad
No AC
1974 K10 axles front and rear with 3.08 gears
