Thoughts on this?

Ever notice how well your truck runs when it is cool and damp outside?

I remember seeing a WI kit in JCW's catalog years ago. And if you Goggle it, there are still many kits avail and talk about it.

Just wondered you's guy's opinions and thoughts....

I say save your money. As you've said yourself, you heard of it years ago right? If it was worth persuing, you'd hear alot more about it by now, and some companies would have taken the technology and improved upon it and made it worth while. Obviously that did not happen and it tells me its alot more talk than walk. JM

They've been around in one form or another since engines were invented.

Big Oil doesn't want them around.

BTW, on this water injection, as far as I can recall and my understanding of how it worked, is the water allowed you to advance your timing and not have a detonation or pinging issue. So if that is the case, the reason it probably didn't take off, is about the time I heard of water injection, is about the time we heard of ESC, Electronic Spark Control, which used a knock sensor on the motor, so that the timing could be advanced as far as possible, but it ping or knock is detected timing was retarded until knock stopped. Basically ESC and computer controls made the water injection unneccesary if my understanding of water injection was all about.

There is also some other technology that alot of guys did as experiemental, and it was to do with running on water that was converted to hydrogen or some crap like that. Apparently supposed to more than double your fuel mileage.

That is the other method I was reffering to. It also has been talked about for years, just not as long as water injection.

I was interested in trying the hydrogen thing a few years ago, until the guys at our local Napa had one explode..... it sounded scary as ****.

Its been known for many many years that Hydrogen will power gas engines. But, that is the problem and why it hasn't been implemented. There has not been a way developed for safe travel with a tank of hydrogen. Its so volitile, a minor fender bender could potentially cause the HHO tank to explode and kill everyone within 10 feet of the tank. I think what makes this experimental method work, is the HHO is used as its being produced so you never have a large quanity at any given time since you're not storing it. Some also say its burns to lean and your motor will not last long using HHO.

I think the idea is to spray a very light fog of water vapor and it helps condense the air/fuel mixture to provide more porwer, I am not sure. I just was thinking about stuff you used to see in the old JCW catalogs.

Also because I was thinking of those plastic fender liners they used to sell for SB trucks, and now nobody has them, which I think whoever still had them could make a fortune off them, I know I would buy a set.

Yep, its old technology, if it was worth while, we'd hear alot more about it. I sure won't waste my money and time on a WI unit.
