Evening gents,
Last week I rebuilt my gauge cluster with all new bulbs, bulb sockets, printed circuit and oil & temp gauges.
Everything is working but yesterday my voltage gauge suddenly pegged at 18+ volt and stays there. Prior to rebuilding the cluster the gauge worked fine, reading between 12-15 volts but then started reading high when everything was put back together.
I checked voltage at the battery with the truck running and it reads 14.5 volts, so I’m sure it’s not the alternator. Is it unheard of for the gauge to suddenly go bad and start reading high?
Truck is an ‘83 K20 350 CID.
