Does anyone know how to change the turn signal lever on a 1974 c10? Do I really need to remove the steering wheel and everything else just to change the lever?

1974 is a little before my time, but if it is removed like the later models, it's easy. Just grasp it firmly in your hand, and then - while trying to keep it lined up straight with the hole in the switch - yank it hard.

Trust me, it seems crazy - but it will come out. The first time I did it - I was too timid and f*cked around with it for an hour. Now - it's grab and yoink!

Ok, I will try that as well. I have read about both methods, yanking and removing the steering wheel, and would rather yank it.

On a 74 you have to take the wheel off, there's a screw that holds the lever to the turn signal switch..

You must be registered for see images attach

It's actually pretty simple to do and takes only a few minutes to get to it..

So I pull the steering wheel off and I can then get to it or do I need to remove the tension spring as well?

not trying to hijack your thread, but i have similar question about my 79 c10.

my turn signal lever is missing the knob. i have several other levers with knobs laying around that are the yank-out variety, but the one on my 79 doesn't seem to yank out. in fact, when i look in the column where it enters, there appears to be a green wire going into the lever!? there's nothing powered in my lever (no wiper controls, etc) so what is this wire for?

and as a side note, anyone have a saddle/tan/brown knob they are willing to part with for next to nothing?
