I have a 1983 3/4 ton with 350 V8 and heavy duty emissions that has the throttle return control (TRC) system with a vacuum actuator at the carb. I want to add air conditioning to the truck, which would mean adding the AC solenoid to the carb to increase engine speed above idle when AC is on. I think both of these items mount in the same place on a quadrajet, is this true? Any one have a truck with both TRC and AC and have both items on the carb? Thanks!

If you have the TRC and it is functional it may very well do both functions, that's how Pontiac did it through 1967. You'd need to see what vacuum your engine idles at with AC on and how many inches of vacuum.it takes to keep the throttle positioner seated.

My ‘75 has no solenoid to increase the idle with A/C on (factory A/C and no evidence it ever had a solenoid) and it does not cause any issue. I do run the vacuum advance on full manifold vacuum, so I get a little idle speed increase from the vacuum advance.
