After reading about 3-4 different amounts of ATF these cases take, just wondering if anyone knows for sure. My 208 puked fluid out of every seal, but it was assembled wrong, so its a wonder it wasn't worse than it was.

I see to fill it til it comes out the filler plug, stop at an inch below the filler, 2.5qts, 3 qts, etc.

Have also seen that the older 205's took more, some took gear oil, so at this point....I dunno. Mine's a 208 so thats what I'm hunting, but if there is a difference between model numbers, then probably a good thing to post also. I'll probably go full synthetic.

I use GL-4 gear lube in my 208. It's behind a standard transmission.
1 gallon comes within 1/8" from the filler plug, and I reckoned that was close enough.

Anything like mine, if it's leaking out the crack it aint out? Sorry I've no idea, but will want to one day when I get it off cleaned up ,welded and back on. Figure if it's close to the top hole it's full.

How much? An inch below the fill hole, til it runs out, 2.5 qts then stop?

:hat:

Lol, I've done all of those on my own 208's. Depends on how frustrated I am squeezing it out of the bottle and not trying to make a mess, and also if I happen to have enough fluid on hand. I prefer to fill until it's right at the fill hole, but many times I've got it to with an inch and said "fock it, that's good enough". The 208 doesn't seem to be too awful finicky about the fill level.
