I’m doing a total body swap on a 84 blazer. Found a rot free body woth no motor. My body is pretty rotted but has a good drive train and clean frame. Any tricks I should look out for before I get started

Get some new body bushings & bolts. If you can do the swap without pulling the front clip it will be done in short time.

Avoid damaging the old body further and do not scrap it. It's probably valuable to someone with a completely shot body or a rolling frame.

Thx. Was going to scrap it but I’ll put it out there when I get it off frame

If you don’t have a lift, find someone that has access to one. A lift will make the swap so much easier.

That said, would it just be easier to move your suspension and drivetrain over?

Coffee cans zip lock bags and a sharpie.
Can’t tell ya how nice it was to find every piece of hardware as I needed it when reassembling the truck.
Pictures are a god send sometimes too. Especially if a long term project.
Prior to re-doing the 86 last time I did any sort of major disassembly we didn’t have these here fancy cellphone cameras!

I have a chain fault set up. And there has been a lot of welding on the frame I’m scraping

Contact your Highway Patrol or DMV to see how it gets registered once you're done. Take a bunch of photos of the process, VINs and any paperwork.

When I lived in California, vehicles were titled by the VIN on the frame. Others here have said their state is by the body. Just confirm you know which way your state does it before you get some major heartburn.
