Will a tilt column from a 80-92 chevy caprice fit in my 77 c10?

Anything can fit any where you want it to, it's just a matter of how bad you want it to. I'm a fabricator so I'd say yes. Lol

I've read that you can physically swap them directly with no problems. The designs are the same, the intermediate shafts are the same, and the wiring on them corresponds depending on the options. I'd make sure that the optioning of the column you get matches that of your truck for the sake of simplicity (i.e. delay wipers). I find the round Caprice steering wheel to be kind of ugly, and I like the previous steering wheel design myself. Maybe I'm missing something, but in my mind it should take little extra effort if any to make it happen.

I would swap the wheel for sure. I am looking to match options for options. I just want a cost effective tilt upgrade!

Your truck, being a 77', has a splined steering shaft end, assuming the original column. You'd need a new intermediate shaft (shaft from the column to steering gear) without the spline, to use the later column (with D shaped end, instead of splined).

What year did they switch? Retro's XJ write up said '77 and later so that's what I've always gone by.

It seems to have been a running change, so hard to pinpoint exactly. I've seen the splined shaft in a 78'. Probably worth double checking.
