i just inherited my grandfathers 1978 Chevy C10 Scottsdale with 55k miles. I took off the trailer plug harness and now the tail lights always stay on. I reworded according to the diagram but it they still stay on. Any thoughts?

What's staying on the running lights or all of them? And is your light switch pushed all the way in?

If it is wired for 12 volts at the trailer light plug, it could be a short across the 12 volt and the tail light wires. Other wise check as Honky Kong said.

So got it figured out. It was actually the brake lights staying on. When I was pulling the dash out, I guess I pulled on the brake switch so the brake arm wasn't engaging it. replaced the brake switch and all is well :)
