I am switching from a 90's suburban dual headlight and grille setup to an 83 single headlight. i have the core, but I was wondering will an 81-82 single headlight wiring work? I can't find an 83 headlight wiring. I bought the HD headlight wiring harness from LMC, just looking for the regular wiring.

I do believe it will work, but the park/turn light wires may need lengthened. You can use an 80's dual headlight harness too, but the high/low headlight plugs would need the pins swapped around.

I almost forgot, there was a single light setup for '89-'91 too. They had two sockets for each park light, so you could simply remove the unneeded ones.

Would I just combine the low and high beam wires into one for the single headlight then?

If going from 4 headlights down to two, you will only utilize the connectors for the high/low headlights. They have three terminals and fit the bigger headlights. They just need the terminals swapped around in the connector body.

The connectors for the high beam headlights will simply no longer get used for anything. They have two terminals in the connectors.

the lights were wired in... series...? and you would need to change the pin locations so that your low and high beams work right. so turning on turns on lower watt halogen on both sides and hitting switch makes it bright on both sides, and turning off makes them off.

Sorry, that was a mistake on my part. What I said there only applies if you are using an 80's 4-headlight harness. If you are using an '89-'91 4-headlight harness, you will have to combine the headlight wires into one connector for the older style lights.

Got it, I appreciate it. I have a 90 so it sounds a lot easier to manage lol.
