Just curious and I can't seem to find anything with the few quick searches I've done, but does anyone know what the stock converter stall speed was for a early 70's TH-400 behind a 454?

1600 maybe? I know it's not real high at all.

Seems based on what I've seen, V8 converters from GM all fall around 1400 RPM. V6s are around 1650-1700 RPM.

^^ THIS. Stockers are advertised 1800 but it is actually several hundred rpm lower.

Awesome... Thanks guys. Just trying to see how much I can get away with upgrading my Torque Converter when the time comes. I think the cam specs call for a 2400 stall, but I'm hoping to get away with something a little lower than that for street manners and mileage sake.
