Is anyone aware of a company that makes either 304 or 409 stainless long tube headers for 4x4 trucks with a big block? My truck is a 4 speed and has AC. Looking for 1.75” primaries and either 2.5” or 3” collectors.

Hedman 62820 are the closest I found but are only listed as compatible with C series trucks.

Thanks!

Nova/Chevelle type headers tend to fit great, at least with a TH400. I'm not entirely sure about your 4-speed though. There should be a few stainless options for those type applications.

A whole new exhaust, including long tube headers, is the next item on my agenda. Despite the fact that I do not drive my truck over the winter (roughly Thanksgiving to Easter) I still want to spring for some 304 stainless headers since PA is very liberal with their road salt application. It is also fairly humid here year round.

I eventually plan on stroking the 454 in my truck or swapping in a crate 502 if the engine is already bored to the max. My question is if I buy headers with 1.75” primaries are they going to be a bottleneck in the future? If so, I may buy cheap plain steel headers now and spring for stainless once the engine situation is addressed.

If I end up going the rebuild/stroker route, I’ll more than likely try to find a set of 781 or 049 heads to clean up.

Can square port headers be used on these oval port heads? Having a hard time finding 304 oval port long tubes for chevelles and novas...

Thanks, Eric

If you want to give them a shot, ebay has many options for stainless headers.

I know of a small block set on my sons friends truck and they look well made and have decently thick flanges.

Exhaust ports are the same on oval port and rectangle port heads. Only the intake port is shaped differently.

Thank you for clearing up my confusion regarding exhaust port shape, it definitely opens up some options.
