Alright. I am trying to redo my interior a bit. I am covering my absolutely demolished dash with a black vinyl and contact cement. In order to get off the trim pieces and vent housings there are those stupid little plastic screws attached to the housing, and then metal speed nuts attached to the back. It seems like every one I remove gets broken off when the nut comes off. I was just using a socket wrench gently and also tried a regular ratcheting box wrench, but to no avail. How do people manage to get these stupid things off? And if they don't how can I fix the ones that break off? I had the same issue with my door panels a while ago and wanted to know how people deal with them. I think it was a really dumb idea to use plastic screws and metal nuts on the back because when you spin the nut it just slices through the plastic screw. They are course, rough, irritating, and they are everywhere!
