Hello, I Have a 78 k20 4speed 4x4 with a rusted (completely dead ) cab
I took the truck apart a year or so ago and recently bought a cab off of a
77 two wheel drive auto, I have everything from the old cab, but there is one problem

The new cab's "trans tunnel" is shaped totally different, so i cant just cut the
hole and use the access cover from the old one, I have 3" of body lift, can I just cut the two shifter holes and count on the body lift to make up the clearance?

Any advise is greatly appreciated

the tunnel shapes are completely different for 2wd autos. Manual trans 2wd trucks and all 4x4 trucks share the same trans tunnel. IMO it won't work even with the body lift, but you can certainly try.

Why wont it work?
You take the bolt down hump out of the 4wd cab, and cut out the 2wd hump, but leave enough of a lip to be able to bolt down the 4wd hump.

with 3" of body lift I dont see why you would have to do any more than cut shifter holes. worse comes to worse you can set it up there and mock it up and if dont clear your out nothing since you will have to cut hump out anyway.

That's what I was thinking. Can't hurt to try

The cab in my truck came from a 2wd auto. It just has the tunnel out of a 4wd standard. It's just screwed down with self tapping screws, looks and works fine. And I also have a 3 inch body lift btw.

cool thanks,
like i said, i didn't cut a hole yet
i just set the cover over the tunnel and got concerned
that the floors were too differently shaped
glad to have verification that it works

I've got a removable hump, and the flange for it I just cut out of the floor of my 80 cab if you need one.
