Shaving the seams on hardtop K5

Has anybody shaved the seams on their top?
Is it simple or not worth it?

The older, full convertible tops had that lump in the back of them, but the newer ones I've seen are much more streamlined. This is mine, and besides the filler falling out in some spots, I think it looks pretty clean.
