If you're talking about the pigtail that activates the dash light when the driver's seatbelt isn't buckled, it doesn't effect operation.

If you're talking about using a seatbelt that has built in pretensioners I'm not sure if those will lock in a crash without the air bag computer signal.

Yes I am talking about the built-in pretensioners that's what I was worried about if I did get in the crash would they stop probably not

John is right. Pre-tensioners contain a pyrotechnical charge - detonated by the SRS control module along with the airbags - which drives a piston. It looks kind of like a large caliber bullet inside of a tube. The pyrotechnical charge is under/behind the piston. When the charge is detonated, the piston shoots up the tube. The piston is connected to the belt retractor roller in some manner (usually a length of steel wire cable). The cable tightens/tensions the seat belt - which causes the occupant to be pressed up against the seat back.

I think the whole idea of these is to get the person as far way as possible from the airbag when it blows up. It is a fairly violent action and can sometimes injure the restrained person. The cops have a name for those injuries - which escapes me right now.
