Hello Everyone. I have a 1978 Chevy Scottsdale with, looks like, aftermarket AC. I believe that the switch has gone bad and trying to locate on. Here is a picture of the switch, which is a separate one than the heater, with the numbers on it. I absolutely can not find a replacement switch anywhere. Any help would be appreciated

That looks like a tough one. You might be forced to scour the junkyards and classifieds looking for a good used replacement.

That is the thermostatic cycling switch, with the fan resistor pictured above it. It has a capillary tube that goes around a cold pipe of the evaporator and it wrapped with 'dum dum' aka prestite tape. Can you estimate how long the capillary tube is, and is the switch a fixed value (it may have a little screw on it) or is it some how adjustable from the dash, via a cable or knob?

Here is a very universal one that even GM used for a few years on factory systems.

Well damn, 2 years later and still haven't found one huh?

A little while back, I picked up an aftermarket AC setup from a member here. I'd have to go check, but I believe it's the same switch. Unfortunately though, when I was trying to pack it all up neatly for storage, I somehow managed to break off the capillary tube.

I hadn't noticed that time gap from the original post...
I was hurrying before work to look up a switch that was fairly universal thinking someone was needing a quick answer ;)
