Im planning to put some new wheels on my truck and I was looking at 15''x12'' for the rim size, just unsure about how much backspacing/offset would give me what on these 72-87 trucks (mines an 86 3/4). I'd like for my new wheels to stick out about 4'' all the way around. If any one has any experience with this then please elaborate on your wheels and how much backspacing or offest you used and how far they stick out, thanks.

If you hang some plumb lines you can easily find out. Also it helps to kniw that a 12in rim is 13in wide.

I'm trying for the same look. What size wheels did you end up with and what backspacing?
Thx.

you are putting 15 inch rims on a 3/4 ton? why? hope you have the small brakes because they will not fit with the big brakes. I guess you guys back east can get away with this but here in Kalifornia having your tires stick out that far will get you pulled over quicker then **** goes though a goose. especially by the motorcycle LEO's. they don't like getting hit in the face with a rock. go figure. highdesertranger

Socal here, didn't ever get leo attention for tires outside the fenders, but mine were roughly 2-2.5" not 4".

You may have a hard time with those 15's though. If steel, may just fit. Aluminum? Highly doubt they'll fit. Especially over a set of rear drums on a 14bff. My slot mags barely clear the front calipers by about 1/8" and mine's got the smaller k10 brakes.

Loud exhaust and my lights (off and covered) got their attention a few times though.
