If you think thats funny....I saw a reciever hitch mounted toilet seat....aka "the bumper dumper". I guess when ya gotta go...ya gotta go.

Damn near everything mounts to a receiver hitch these days...vices...load extensions...motorcycle carriers....work platforms and don't forget stripper poles!!

That boom should be extendable, but it looks to be missing the inner tube.

Didn't notice that before. I'll bet that started life as a regular engine hoist.

I too figured it was missing the telescopic insert. Wasn't sure it was started out as a regular hoist and then rednecked or if there really is such a thing. Cuz I sure never seen one before. I have thought about it though.

What I've actually thought about before, is putting tow wheels on mine with a hitch to make it a tow unit. To hard for me to lift it into a truck, and then if I have an engine in the bed, it's even a more bitch to carry the hoist and an engine.

I converted my old engine hoist to fit in a truck hitch, it works great for moving engines around to/from the barn/garage/truck/trailer/etc. I'm sure it's hard on the hitch with no other support, just avoid the holes and don't drive too fast.

It's also great for moving axles around the yard. WAY easier than putting wheels on them and trying to roll them everywhere.

I'd imagine you could come up with a plan for a 45 degree gusset or other support system. Maybe even ratchet straps to the front or middle stake bed holes to the top of the hoist.

The problem is I use it on different trucks and the Burbs too. I also mounted it at an angle, so whatever is hanging off of it can be seen in the left side mirror. But a strap to a stake pocket does add a little support.

I also use my engine hoist to pull up broken stockade fence posts. Just dig a little around the concrete, choke a chain around the concrete and jack it straight up. This way, no digging a huge hole to get it out, then you just drop in a new post in the existing hole, new concrete and it's easy peazy.

Put it in a front mount receiver, and it would be even more like having a mobile crane around.
